The Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center (AGRC) was officially designated as a "Vertical Lift Research Center of Excellence (VLRCOE) by the Vertical Flight Foundation earlier this June. Several aerospace faculty are credited with contributing to the winning proposal. The AGRC was awarded funding for approximately half of the proposed program (12 out of 23) Penn State and Georgia Tech also received similar funding for their proposed tasks. Three aerospace faculy, Professors Anya Jones, Sean Humbert and Derek Paley received approval from their rotorcraft peers to fund a task through the AGRC. The AGRC now embarks on a partnership with the Naval Academy, Wyoming University, Texas-Austin and North Carolina A&T through its VLRCOE designation.
